" The Gardiner Library at John Hunter Hospital houses a collection of human tissue. I have been fortunate to spend time drawing theses specimens. I have often marveled at the beauty of human anatomy. I am fascinated by the minute detail found in the structures of human tissue. My drawings represent the many fabrics of the human body.

The latin title De Humani Corporis Fabrica translates to English as On the Fabric of the Human Body. The word Fabrica may be translated as structure or framework, but has greater functional overtones.
It can also mean a place where a thing is made. The word fabric most commonly refers to material or cloth. It can also be a metaphor for the intricacies of the tissues and organs of human anatomy.

I am a Ph.D. candidate of the School of Fine Art, University of Newcastle. My thesis is an interdisciplinary study that examines the history of anatomy in art and medicine. The thesis comprises of a written desertion and a studio practice component. Fabrica is a preview of a much larger group of artwork that will be exhibited at the conclusion of my Ph.D. study.
