Friend, do not enter without desire" Paul Valery Tomb or Treasure celebrates the library's diverse, interesting and astonishing collection of books, instrumentation and original works and manuscripts. Many have significant historical value and have been donated to the library by local doctors and amateur historians.

10 images have been reproduced from the Classics of Medicine Library, Gryphon Edition facsimiles of classic books in medicine. The collection was donated to the library by the Medical Board RNH in memory of Dr David Wallace a man remembered for his work in advancing medical facilities in Newcastle and the Hunter, which ultimately resulted in the establishment of John Hunter Hospital.
